 Autumn Term

Our topic for Autumn 1 is 'Superheroes Like us!' and will be looking at lots of different and important jobs. Each week we will take a different story off the bookshelf and base our learning around it. The stories will include ‘Going to the Doctors’, ‘If I were a Firefighter’, ‘MOG and the V.E.T’ and many more.

In Literacy we will be making a get well soon card, beginning to recognise rhyming pairs, practicing writing our names and starting to hear different sounds in words.

In Maths we will be learning lots of different counting songs, finding the correct amount of items when asked, reciting numbers to 5 and beginning  to recognise which group has more/less than in.

Our Creative tasks will include making nurses hats, cookking pizzas with our favourite toppings on, junk modelling a post van and making diva lamps in celebration of Diwali!

Throughout the Topic we will complete lots of exciting activities such as learning how to look after different animals, making a class charter with rules for our room and discussing why these rules are important, completing a fireman training course and creating a family tree.

Our topic for Autumn 2 will be 'Skipping through the Seasons!'. We will look at each of the 4 seasons and the changes that occur in each one. Each week we will take a different season themed story off the bookshelf and base our learning around it. The stories will include ‘Up, Down and Around’, ‘Bunny’s First Spring’, ‘Summer Colour’ and many more.

In Literacy we will be matching logos to their correct item, using Pie Corbett’s actions to retell a story, matching the correct colours to their names and joining in with the stories we read.

In Maths we will be learning prepositional language, making simple patterns using 2 colours, talking about how we get to school and describing the things we see on the way.

Our Creative tasks will include making handprint bunnies, baking Gruffalo Crumble, creating Christmas cards and using cotton balls to paint a rainbow.

Throughout the Topic we will complete lots of exciting activities including learning which vegetables grow up, down or around, talking about being brave and what it means, playing the bean game and learning how to mix colours together to make new ones!

The MTP for Autumn 2 will be added at half term.
