Integrated Resource

First and absolutely foremost our Trust’s vision is that ALL children should receive the best social, moral and academic education to support them in achieving their very best. We endeavour to support all communities, schools, staff and pupils in achieving their best whilst recognising and working with the uniqueness of each one. In achieving this Waverley Junior Academy and the ACET inclusion team work collaboratively with families and professionals to achieve the best outcomes for all the pupils.  Our inclusive provision includes an integrated resource (IR) situated on the mainstream site at Waverley Junior Academy.

The IR at Waverley Junior Academy is a ten place Key Stage 2 specialist resource co-located on the mainstream site. The IR provides integrated and bespoke provision for pupils who have an Education and Health Care Plan, have a diagnosis of autism and who are capable of accessing aspects of a mainstream academic curriculum.

Admission to the Integrated Resource at Waverley Junior Academy is agreed through consultation with the academy through the Rotherham Local Authority’s Special Educational Needs and Assessment Team.

Staff working within mainstream and Integrated Resource provision at Waverley Junior Academy have all accessed Autism Awareness training, with key staff undertaking bespoke and personalised training based on the identified needs of pupils for whom placement has been agreed. This training is informed by professionals and reflected in the pupil’s Education and Health Care Plan.

Other activities we have completed include writing 5 good rules for an autism friendly school, meeting the Trummies and thinking about how we can support someone who is finding it hard to make friends.
