Welcome to Whale class. What a fantastic first term we had! We really enjoyed learning about our class animal, writing letters and mastering some new tricky maths skills. During the first spring half term our topic is ‘Caring for ourselves and others’. We will be learning about staying healthy, the different parts of the body and the lives of significant people such as Florence Nightingale.

In literacy we will be using lots of different stories and poems to stimulate our writing. We will be writing different pieces such as instructions on how to be a good dragon, a character description on Evil Pea and much more. Below are some of the books we will be looking at during this topic.

In maths Year 2 will continue to add 2-digit number, whilst consolidating knowledge on shape, space and measure. We will also begin looking at statistics, multiplication and division. In Year 1 will be consolidating place value to 20 and adding and subtracting to 20.
