Summer Term
Our topic for Summer 1 is… “The Great Outdoors”
This term is all about the outdoors and the world around us. We will be learning about the weather, days of the week, plants, animals and more! To support our learning, we will be reading stories such as "Life is a Rainbow", "Spring" and "The Very Hungry Caterpillar".
Our craft activities this term will include painting rainbows, bottle flower printing and sponge stamping. Other learning activities taking place are: completing a weather chart, developing pencil control using dot-to-dots and mazes, as well as learning the simple life cycle of a butterfly and completing worksheets about hot and cold seasons. Other areas of development we will be focussing on throughout both summer terms are identifying emotions and what they look like, working on skills which will aid independence and learning to count. For our WOW Moment, we are really excited to go on a visit to our local park! This will benefit the children's understanding of simple instructions and rules, physical development skills and also encourage environmental phonics skills by listening to sounds around them.

Our Topic for Summer 2 is... “Bear Necessities”
Our final topic together is all about bears! Stories we will read this term include "Peace at Last", "Goldilocks and the Three Bears", "This is the Bear" and "We're Going on the Bear Hunt". These stories will support children in learning about emotions and what can make you feel this way. Key vocabulary will be to learn the names of different bears, key body part features and labelling emotions.
We hope to have lots of fun alongside our learning for our final half-term together! We will be bringing together everything we have learnt to create activities which are fun and engaging. Some craft we will take part in this term are handprint bears, using forks to make a bear's face, making different types of bears, such as brown bears, grizzly bears, polar bears and pandas! To further support learning and development, we plan on going on a bear hunt around the school, completing size and weight activities as well as playing ball games and identifying features of our families.
